Luna Hare is a resident of Kennet Found and go-between for the other aspects of the town.

Personality[edit]

She feels uncomfortable taking off her mask trying to wear it or cover her face at all times,<ref name=":0">Luna sat up in bed, removing her rabbit-themed sleep mask and putting on her other mask in the same motion.
[...]
oh, and don’t forget to take off the mask before going to Kennet above. It’ll be seen as weird.”

What an uncomfortable idea.
[...]
She pulled off the mask.

Her eyes were very dark, but her face was otherwise normal.

“I feel naked without the mask on,” she said, putting a hand over her face. - Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.a</ref> she's been seen walking Kennet above with her mask on despite advice.<ref>Luna Hare crossed Kennet above, wearing her mask. She got looks. Too early for halloween, people said. - Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.y</ref> She eventually got around to not wearing a mask but she would still keep her face covored.<ref> - Excerpt from Let Slip 20.6</ref>

One of Luna's first formative moments was crashing into her bed and deciding to be more composed and dignified in the future,<ref>Luna approaches from an angle odd enough that the peak of the roof doesn’t meet, curving wildly before striking the bed. She bounces off, crashes into headboard, lamp, and bedside table, before landing with her back to her little bookshelf, two books falling atop her.

She is quick to stand and get herself in order, hoping nobody saw that little disaster.

Won’t do that again.

The thought finds its way into her being, which is still in the process of being interpretation. Even as she stands, she can feel her self awareness and memories falling into place, like enough meteors striking from the skies that they form mountains and other shapes. The thought and self-commitment becomes an important one.
[...]
The way [Luna] stood reminded [Dom] a lot of Talia. Very straight. Trying very hard.

The aura around her, it felt different, though. Like she knew exactly who she was and was strong in that. Like Jorja, kind of. Talia didn’t have that. - Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.a</ref> this puts her at odds with other Lost.<ref> - Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.3</ref>

She thrives in Kennet Found finding the whimsy and weirdness of its rules and way of life comfortable.<ref>“You’re not people!  You’re props!  Soulless, pointless, unimportant!”

“As a repeat offender, you’ll need to go to the Arena to complete a civility course.  They have an expedited three day program and a seven day program where you’ll need to show up every day for a check-in, but you’ll have the rest of the day mostly free to yourself, to enjoy the area.”

Luna Hare nodded to herself.  All very sensible. - Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.a</ref> Knows how to subvert the rules of Kennet Found but isn't willing to reveal them.<ref>“Tell me, I ask a second time, and on a third, by the Seal, you must answer.  You don’t have the status, freedom, or clout to say no.  Are there any ways to circumvent the writs or get emergency access out?”

She heard the squeal of tires.  By the looks of it, at least two of the people by the boy doing the interrogation had heard too.

“Make noise.  Big practice.  Let that darkness out, if you want.”

“I’m pretty wobbly.”

“If you don’t do anything, they’ll get what they want out of her. [...] “She knows.” - Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.a</ref>

On the whole, she's very polite and always introduces herself.<ref>“A white rabbit told me to come,” he said. “I assume rules of hospitality are in order?”

“They are,” Rook said. She set a drink and bread down.

“You know, I’ve never once known Luna to not introduce herself, why not just admit your memory’s terrible?” Lucy asked.- Excerpt from Crossed With Silver 19.16</ref>

Blood Moon[edit]

As a resident of Kennet Found when the blood moon rises her personality becomes violent.

Relationships[edit]

Miss[edit]

Treats her as a respected authority figure but not as a god or maternal figure.

Snowdrop[edit]

Luna's very different personality clashes with the first familiar of kennet yet they're still able to be cordial in their way.<ref>Snowdrop tackle-hugged Luna Hare, ‘biting’ her in the neck with the mouth of the open opossum mask.

“You’re terrible,” Luna said.

“Hi Luna!” Avery greeted her. “You can identify our families by the masks, I hope.”
[...]
[Luna] leaned more and more right, bringing her right shoulder closer to the ground as Snowdrop ‘bit’ her, then finally pushed Snowdrop away, the nose of Snow’s mask catching on the edge of hers as they parted. Snowdrop stumbled a few steps away and laughed.

There was a hint of a smile on Luna’s face as she pulled her mask down. She pulled her bag around front, and opened it up.
[...]
Luna led the way, prattling on, though it seemed only a few were listening and taking notes. Snowdrop periodically tried to mess with her, taking her hand and making her spin while walking, or poking, or trying to make her laugh, or getting junk food and holding it out for Luna. It was like Snowdrop’s natural disposition for chaos drove her to natural, light antagonism with prim, orderly Luna.

That, or she’d spent too much time around goblins.

Avery hoped some of Luna’s style would rub off on Snow. It’d be nice to have a sweet familiar.
[...]
“I can’t tell if Luna wants to murder Snowdrop by now or if she’s having fun with a friend.”

I want to murder Snow sometimes.  Snow!” Avery called out.

Snowdrop stepped away from Luna.

“Go opossum mode and go easy, or come up here.”

Snowdrop went opossum mode, crawling on Luna.  Just the fact she was there and crawling along her arm and shoulder seemed to do more to break Luna’s attempts at giving a good tour than all her antics as a human. - Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.3</ref> Even friendly.

Verona[edit]

The one from the Kennet Trio she has the most interaction with after Avery.

Appearance[edit]

She is anatomically normal but has odd coloring; with white skin and equally white hair and very dark eyes.<ref name=":0"/> She was created in a black lace dress, in a bunny mask that echoes her face coloring.<ref>A girl with white skin and white hair practically shone in the gloom, wearing a black dress and a white bunny mask with black eyes.- Excerpt from Gone and Done It 17.x</ref> The masks ears are supported by coifed hair, while the eyes of her mask are an opaque black. She carries a tan leather messenger bag.<ref>She was wearing a white dress with a bit of lace on the sleeves and at the hem, the white rabbit mask, and tights with a lace pattern, broken up some by a light tan leather belt and the light tan messenger bag.- Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.a</ref> She varies her clothes as part of an effort to grow.

Abilities[edit]

She has supernaturally good balance and is able to stand on walls, ceilings, and non-physicals things.<ref>Luna shrugged. Not all Foundlings or Lost had abilities, and not all abilities were good. Luna just had the naturally good balance for walking on barrels, fences, walls, maybe a ceiling if she was super careful with how she balanced, and occasionally balancing on non-physical things. “Got some papers for you. Nothing big. Information and a cheat sheet on rules to follow.” - Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.a</ref> Her focus of appearing composed and on task lets her get a lot of work done.

She has some special perception of her own, as well able to see metaphysical things. She doesn't seem to be able to naturally translate Snowdrop's backwards Rule of Discourse as easily as others do. <ref>“Not the oldbodies, I hope,” Lucy said, from directly above Luna.

“No. Why does everyone keep saying that?”

“Because they’re super nice and too good for this place,” Snowdrop said.

“Kennet found is very nice, actually,” Luna said. - Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.3</ref>

Equipment[edit]

While a child she wholly owns her house in Kennet Found

Chronology[edit]

Her previous existence was a faded Echo that become something Open to Interpretation,<ref>

  • Abstract Spirits - Spirits of consolidated Path-trash, may be even less defined or consistent than usual spirits, but can be useful as a kind of wet clay for those looking to mold them. The problem is that if these guys are a blender of weird, well, sometimes that blender has blades inside. The trick is finding out what's at the center, holding them together. - Comment by Wildbow on Finders</ref> Finding its way to the Stuck-In-Place her current form was created when Miss descended out of fragments of echo and bits of moon rock,<ref>Again, as moon-rocks fly by, vision is obstructed. Some bits become parts of the puzzle where every piece is from somewhere different. The scrap of lace curtain is now a dress, the moon rock is now form, and the thing that is Open to Interpretation gets a moment of recognition from the Lost woman, and in that moment it is interpreted. It is now a person, and that person is bound to the Seal of Solomon as her creator was, because her creator was.- Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.a</ref> being the places sixth ever resident.<ref>“ID… AAAA, AAAA, zero-zero-zero-zero, AAAF. Number six, huh?”- Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.a</ref>

She asked Easton, Shay, Vaughn and Cal for papers, when they failed to provide them she issued them writs and explained the rules of Kennet Found.<ref>Gone and Done It 17.x</ref>

Surviving the tumult that was Anthem's hunt she went back home to sleep. Waking up she was given the job to act as a go-between for the three variants of Kennet. She went to The House on Half Street answered several of Verona's questions and pled no contest to her work, she then went through into Kennet Below where she was held hostage until rescue arrived.

She kept her composure throughout.

She later led a large section Garrick family along with the Kennet Trio's attending parents who were there to escort some of the more cooperative former invading practitioners back to safety.<ref> - Excerpt from Wild Abandon 18.3</ref>

Visited Verona to return some clothes she was lent and lead her to the Kennet council meeting held at the Area on the Found side. She later tried to escort Lis in but was denied.

Peace expires[edit]

Months later she came by The House on Half Street along with Shoe, mainly to help Verona organize all her new books, but admitted she has also been doing her online learning with her.<ref>“You guys are weird. Is it that you’re bored? Literal winter wonderland and no obligations and you want to be here?”

Luna looked down, scuffing at the floorboards with the toe of her fuzzy boot.

“What is it?”

“I wanted to see your class work from the online class again. And try it myself.”

“You’re so weird,” Verona repeated herself. “Sure.”

Luna perked up. - Excerpt from Crossed With Silver 19.1</ref>

Trivia[edit]

  • Of course her name basically means "Moon Rabbit" after a dark spot on the moon that several cultures have interpreted as being a Lapin form.
