Blackhorne is a deuadia, a creature similar to a satyr but with more emphasis on strength and savagery.<ref name=feral>Blackhorne came at her from the shadows, a massive, musclebound creature with great horns, relative to satyr, called a deuadai instead, more savage and strong than lustful and feral.
Though he was lustful. He was feral. He was more of a lot of things. - Excerpt from False Moves 12.z</ref>
Personality[edit]
Abrasive and violent who revels in chaos,<ref name=feral/> yet he could be polite when he wanted to.<ref name=4x/>
Relationships[edit]
He likes Reid a little but not enough to help his would-be master when Blackhorne was unexpectedly freed from his binding.<ref>Blackhorne was there, idly amused.
The sensations were hard to make out. Amusement, a casual fondness… rejection.
I like you some, but not that much.
He could imagine it in Blackhorne’s voice.
Blackhorne wouldn’t help. - Excerpt from False Moves 12.z</ref>
Appearance[edit]
He has a large physique with massive horns<ref>As they descended the cabin stairs, Blackhorne, sitting there and standing guard, rose to a standing position, a giant of a man with horns disproportionately big even for his frame, falling in step, parallel to Drowne. - Excerpt from False Moves 12.z</ref> and long curly hair and beard, usually dressed in a wool longcoat.<ref name=4x>A burly guy with a thick, curly black beard, a mane of curly black hair, and elaborate curling horns as broad as Snowdrop’s arms were long turned to look at her as she huffed for breath. It was hot outside, t-shirt and shorts weather, and he wore a heavy black coat that might have been wool.
“Did you thank the kitchen staff?”
She shook her head.
“Steal from them?”
She drew the knife from her waistband. “It was given to me.”
“Hmm.”
“What if, hypothetically, I kicked one of them in the butt?”
“Why would you do that?” he asked. His voice had a sharp edge to it, but the baritones were warm.
“He deserved it, probably.” Snowdrop [said.]
[...]
“It’s going to be a very long semester for you, then. You’re an animal, aren’t you?”
“Opossum.”
“They serve high quality meals. I wonder what they would do with opossum meat.”
“Don’t be cruel, Blackhorne,” [Nicolette] said.
[...]
“It’s true, Nicolette,” Blackhorne said.
“I’m not saying it isn’t,” Nicolette said, as she approached the table. “Truth is crueler than lies. If it wasn’t, we wouldn’t believe our own lies.” - Excerpt from Leaving a Mark 4.x</ref> An intimidating presence.<ref>Blackhorne stepped out. Standing in the street in the middle of broad daylight, radiating menace as he stood a step behind and to the left of Reid. He took up a spot between Kevin Noone and Shellie. - Excerpt from Cutting Class 6.9</ref>
Has a Baritone voice.<ref name=4x/>
Abilities[edit]
He is immensely strong<ref name=GA79>His son followed. Blackhorne put a hand out and practically heaved Reid up to the roof’s edge. Drowne followed shortly after, flung with the other hand, moved faster, and caught Reid as he landed on the roof, helping secure his balance.
[...]
Avery skidded, running on the southern side of the rooftop, closer to Alexander, Chase, Nicolette, and Lucy, as Reid, Blackhorne, and Drowne crested the peak.
Blackhorne ducked out of view as Rae looked. Drowne, a little more capable of passing as human, carried on after. - Excerpt from Gone Ahead 7.9</ref> and tough<ref>Blackhorne, chest and hand mangled, gave absolutely no shits about either as he laughed, pursuing Elise - Excerpt from False Moves 12.z</ref>, he was able to survive being hit by one of Elise's improvised explosive grenades.<ref>Just in time. It detonated, five feet from Elise and five feet from Blackhorne. A rigged weapon meant to scatter bent nails, glass, and pieces of the can in every direction.
Whatever it was that made her that competent at wielding a chainsaw, it helped the can focus its output on Blackhorne, while the scattering of shrapnel largely avoided Elise. She was nicked in places, but it wasn’t so bad. She rolled over, staggered to her feet, and retreated from Blackhorne, who hadn’t suffered more than a sharp pain in his right arm that made closing his hand difficult, and damage to his eyelid that let him see light through it, albeit with a filter of thick blood.- Excerpt from False Moves 12.z</ref>
As a familiar he can be healed from death comparatively easily.
Chronology[edit]
Before the Story[edit]
Became the Familiar to a practitioner only for Reid Musser to acquire Blackhorne whilst the duo were on a ship from Australia to Canada.<ref>I picked up Blackhorne while on a ship between there and Canada. - Excerpt from False Moves 12.z</ref>
He was at the Blue Heron Institute with his new master where he encountered Snowdrop,<ref name=4x/> leaving a strong impression.<ref>“One of the other Familiars that wasn’t Blackhorne.”
“Hmm.”
“Blackhorne is the scary guy, right?” Verona asked. She was dressed, and the water she hadn’t dried off was bleeding into the fabric of her shirt, making wet spots from the inside.
“He’s a cuddlebunny,” Snowdrop said, dead serious. “Weak and dumb and fluffy.”
“And he’s the familiar of Reid Musser,” Lucy said.
“Makes sense,” Avery said. “Musser was one of the school founders, wasn’t he? But he sorta isn’t a part of things anymore. Which makes it sound like he was pushed out by Alexander.” - Excerpt from Cutting Class 6.4</ref>
Blackhorne went to Kennet with the rest of the Musser family. He would face off against Elise Norwood and later be trapped by Crooked Rook whilst fighting The Lighthouse Witch Hunters.<ref>He could feel Blackhorne in darkness, slamming a hand against a wall.
The half-foot-by-half-foot box jarred, the bang coming from within.- Excerpt from False Moves 12.z</ref> He was released from being Reid Musser's familiar when Drowne forced Reid to relinquish everything he'd stolen.
