Summer Break 13.13 is the thirteenth chapter to Summer Break.
Plot[edit]
The trio decide to go to the House on Half Street and Lis (as Ken) changes Kennet to make things harder for them. They arrive at the house on half street and find the door open. They hear Charles, Maricia and Lis talking inside about Charles wearing the furs.
Lucy uses runes to explode the window, and Verona and Avery enchant the door to resist the nettlewisps attack. As they enter they realise that Maricica, Lis and Charles are a glamour construct and the voices they heard earlier was just a recording. In the centre of the room was Bluntmunch’s horrible misshapen dog meat. Lucy, Verona and Avery try and negotiate with it but to no avail. Avery turns on her sight and sees a bunch moor eyes in the wall. Lucy manages to pin the dog meat with a trident and Verona turns it to stone.
They run off to find Charles. After a few minuets the Dog Meat appears again, Avery uses a chalk line to slow it down, Verona throws a flash spell card and Avery tries to hit it with the ugly stick.
A women opens her front door and is savaged by the dog meat, Avery uses snowdrops sight and see the women is carrying a bag of bones and realises it’s a distraction created by Maricica.
Avery realises the phantom eyes she can see with her sight is the dog powering up by tracking it’s prey, when the eyes turn red it gains a burst of speed and strength.
They reach the arena and find Maricica and Lis facing off against Guilherme with the rest of Kennet Others, Witch Hunters and Musser’s on the sidelines. Ken is gone, dematerialised. The Dog Meat appears then disappears.
Maricica starts taunting them with the fact that Avery’s planning to leave them. Just as Maricica mentions Brie the Dog Meat attacks but is stopped by the Smoulder Spirit.
Peckersnot flings snot at the ground, drawing a map of the arena. Snowdrop calls to Avery and she realises the map Peckersnot drew was him showing them how to get to the Kennet Others. Avery jumps onto the window of the arena, then jumped to the floor, throwing a finders coin down to soften her fall.
With them out the way Lis moves a wall and Charles appears, Guilherme is forced to stop attacking Charles to deal with the Witch Hunters. Nibble and Chloe grapple with the Dog Meat. Charles starts monologuing about how unfair the system is and Lucy shoot Maricica though the wing.
Charles tries to negotiate with Musser and the Kennet Others attack him to stop him, Verona uses a silence rune of prevent sound reaching Musser. Musser removes the silence rune and makes the deal with Charles, adding him and his Others to the fight.
Avery reaches Lis and manages to get her to surrender, promising not to be involved for the rest of the night.
Maricica manages to change Verona into a cat by dropping glamour onto her, Maricica taunts Lucy dropping her mothers golden earrings in front of her, earlobes still attached. Something she took when she visited Lucy’s house.
Avery tires to get to Charles but Maricica intercedes, he reaches the door and the Alabaster Doe lets him enter.
Maricica appears holding Brie in her arms, the trio argue with her to get her to release her. Maricica tells them that Charles dug up the doll that held he Choir’s curse, she then tells them she reinforced Brie’s bindings to preventer her using the waifs against her, she deftly removes the glamour to release them. She tells the trio that Charles can now use the doll to control the Hungry Choir.
Brie gives Avery a necklace with a ring on it to counter the dolls claim, she runs to the door to give it to John but a bird swoops down and steals it from her. She uses glamour to turn into a hawk and chase it down but to no avail.
