Subordination 6.12 is confusingly the eleventh chapter of Subordination. A complete chapter is skipped and the cabal finds their tactical advantage gone. Things get desperate but the goblins turn the tide and Laird is captured.

Plot

Blake and Evan find themselves somehow surrounded outside in the police station's parking lot without Rose or any of their gear. They try to climb over the fence, but one of the Behaim kids sticks an electric rune on it. Another Behaim kid uses her candle and needles to bind Blake's legs. Evan gets kicked around and Blake tries to challenge the binding's wording. Craig is sent inside to get Laird Behaim. At Blake's command, Evan flies off to get help. Unfortunately Rose and Maggie are revealed to be trapped. Blake continues to try and hamper Ainsley's binding.

Just as she's about to finish, trouble arrives. Tandy Behaim is told to go inside for safety, but her passageway is blocked by crashing cars and a Gremlin dragging her under. Owen rushes to help her while Ainsley continues the ritual. Behind her, another Gremlin manages to turn on a car. She barely dodges it with Blake's warning, then continues the binding. Screwloose steps out of the crashed car, wielding a sort of shotgun, and fires scrap at Blake. Douchegargler rigs a car engine to explode in a while, then traps Owen's hand with the hood. Blake tries to wrestle Screwloose into submission, and to convince Ainsley to let him go save everyone, but fails to do either. Owen gets his shin crushed by two cars.

Evan returns, and is sent off to get the Hyena. Laird arrives, instantly shoots the female Gremlin, and avoids stepping on a bear trap. Blake and Laird have a chat. Evan arrives, riding the Hyena, and commanding it to blow it's foul breath at them. Ainsley's candle snuffs out, thus freeing Blake. The male Gremlin fires a stream of urine at Laird, then attaches the electric rune to himself. The stream becomes an arc of electricity, knocking out both Laird and Screwloose. Blake grabs Laird's gun, and forces Ainsley to free Rose. Blake and Rose regroup, and review what just happened. Laird is captured and Blake has figured out the trick behind the Behaims's power.

• The skip from chapter ten to a chapter twelve is an aesthetic choice meant to evoke Chronomancy which the Behaims are known for.
  • The chapter skip was met with many complaints by readers despite said reasonable aesthetic justification.
• Gavin a Behaim who wears sunglasses disappears and is seemingly replaced with Owen who also wears sunglasses.
