Kevin observes Ulysse while thinking on relationships their eyes meet and Kevin looks away striking up a conversation with his girlfriend Rae that brings to mind how her battleax of a mother became fortuitously disabled, likely by his eye. Jevin decides to do some exploring making the excuse he's going to take a piss. Ulysse decides to get in his way, knowing Kevin is a problem.

Ted intervenes, trying to be mediate between the two boys preempting a fight. Ted equates his goal of keeping Kevin and Shellie in line to Ulysse serving his god. The argument escalates into an actual fight that Ted quickly diffuses things through offers of information for Ulysse and his teacher, he tried to be what Ulysee was once but somethings else had prior Claim. Kevin is clear to proceed, getting Rae to follow him.

With her as a lookout he picks the lock to the library door, thinking of the whole situation of the school and how it relates to Bristow. There he finds the librarian, Nina the animus, and they make small talk with Nina observing Kevin's taste in literature. Nina stops Kevin from sneaking a glance at the books she's holding which only increases Kevin's interest in the Alexander's private study she mentions, Kevin get's an idea. He goes to find Shellie .

Near the new construction site recovering from her tousle with the Kennet Trio he outlines his problem and references a similar job they worked on together, Kevin gets told to wait five minutes so Shellie can rectify it. He spends the time ruminating on his work, wants, neighbors and relationships and the effects of his ability on them all. He returns to the library following the elapse of the time limit, finding the way unencumbered and a comment about his 'friendship' with Ted.

Shellie had used Glamour to ape Bristow and get permission, she sneaks up behind him in this guise while he picks the demense's lock. While the lock gives the door refuses to open so Kevin calls Sharon for help depowering it. Entering the space immediately provokes it to attack Kevin Shellie Glamours Alexander's voice again to calm the demanse. The chatter informs the fellow tenets of recent events from Shellie's perspective including that Alexander has visited and subsequently left the building with Clem and other residents, while dodging the attentions of a black widow type.

Working there way though the space they come to alexanders private study, a workshop. Sharon and Kevin hash out an exchange for Sharon's 'consultation' with the door, he'll probably be ruining someone's life. Kevin and Shellie come across a strange dollhouse with a elaborate recreation of Sargent Hall inside and close the call with a protesting Sharon. They explore the interesting set up that Alexander left, Kevin sees a picture of Laila Throop who uncannily resembles an unrequited old crush of his.

Exploring further Kevin recalls his interactions with Alexander and he muses on what could have been. After finding out his girlfriend is allegedly going to kill him and that the computer starts beeping when he messes around he goes to that. It's easy to access the files and finds notes that are incomprehensible to him. It seems that Alexander has paid Nina the necessary power to retrieve Ted's journals from previous iterations of his life.

Bristow, Ted and Rae enter at this point, Bristow comments that the set up is meant to cause his tennets distress. Messing with the computer he brings up a r journal entry of where he met Ted, showcasing Bristow's personality. Calling Kevin upstairs Bristow essentially orders Kevin, without ever saying such words. to attack Alexander's apprentice Wye. Bristow leaves with Ted, heading off to deal with Kennet Trio and the Brownie situation. Goaded by Shellie he targets a section of the gas station, unprotected by Wye's charms. He causes an explosion rendered in miniature by the dollhouse. Wye is hurt but there are also many civilian casualties and even a fatality.

Kevin likes the feeling the event gives him, he thinks on his place in Bristow's larger schemes and how he can personnaly benefit from it. Wanting to fulfill his petty desires further he chooses he next target; Lilia.
