Wheel of the Apex Hunter

From Pact Wiki

The Wheel of the Apex Hunter is a Throne representing the rule "there is always one stronger".<ref name=":0">Sample Throne Ritual -
Wheel of the Apex Hunter

The Rule: there is always one stronger.
As the Evangelist begins the ritual, a target will be named, engraved (illustrated or an image provided), and pointed to.
Cherubim of the Fifth Choir will appear with increasing frequency and will construct the Wheel in multiple segments.  The segments will expand, then telescope, occupying a fair tract of landscape. When the recitation is complete, something that typically takes five days and five nights of chanting, the Evangelist will be questioned by higher powers, typically while sleep deprived.  If granted permission, the Wheel of the Apex Hunter will take form and manifest its rule. It will Create a beast and the beast will proceed toward its prey by land, sea, or sky, depending on form. The beast will grow stronger and more prominent as it travels (not necessarily larger) and will almost always travel exactly far enough and grow exactly strong enough that it can beat its hunted target in mortal combat, then die of its wounds.
Evangelists must be mindful of the prominence of the beast and the wheel both, and may need to escort the beast to deflect the eyes of the Innocent. - Pact Dice: Evangelists </ref>

Summoning[edit]

The ritual for an Evangelist to summon the Wheel begins by indicating an engraved image of the target and reciting their name. The ritual then takes place over five days and nights of chanting, during which Cherubim of the Fifth Choir will appear to construct the Wheel, and the sleep-deprived Evangelist will be questioned by higher powers.<ref name=":0" /> As usual for Thrones, only if they successfully convince the powers that be to grant them permission will it manifest fully; if not, they will likely be punished for their hubris, perhaps with a hefty karmic backlash.<ref name=":0" /><ref>Such a summoning typically requires some time, resources, and tertiary preparations. The first difficulty in employing Thrones is that Thrones typically require permission to use and permission is requested as the Throne is summoned - if permission is refused, it typically means the Evangelist is unable to use the Throne and punished for their impertinence.  One should be prepared with arguments in favor of the Throne’s use in case they are asked, keeping in mind that they may be challenged by members of a specific choir, and not always the one most closely or intuitively linked to the Throne or situation at hand. Arguments should be tailored in kind, and one should be mindful that repeated use of Thrones, especially as shortcuts, may be met with retribution or rebuke.
The secondary issue of using a Throne is that they tend to involve major and inexplicable events that reach the public.  If practitioners cannot keep these events out of the public eye, limiting activity to arenas and specialized attention-evading barriers, or to combat in other realms and foreign demesnes, they are far more likely to be refused and also very likely to suffer a steep karmic penalty. - EVANGELISTS, document by Wildbow.</ref>

Appearance[edit]

The Wheel is a large, telescoping structure.<ref name=":0" />

Ability[edit]

The Wheel creates a beast which will travel to the target, growing more powerful and dramatic as it goes, until it becomes exactly powerful enough to kill them and then die of it's own wounds.<ref name=":0" />
