Summer Break 13.8 is the eight chapter of Summer Break.
Plot[edit]
Lucy, Verona, Avery and Snowdrop are having a sleep over. They discuss the conspirators plans together.
They talk about Jabber's use as a power source and if their willing to use the Hungry Choir. Verona suggests binding Jabber and dematerialising Ken, Lucy disagree with her, the two of them proceed to argue about it.
Lucy accuses her of being to good at practice, of sometimes causing harm with it but Verona replies that she’s falling behind the other two. Avery asks if the stress Verona’s feeling is due to her father.
Verona mentions she’s going to visit the shrines with Tashlit and then see Jeremy. As she goes downstairs Jasmine asks to speak with her, she asks how she’s doing and raises the possibility of her mum having custody of her.
Verona meets Jeremy in the woods and asks him if she’s taking advantage of him to which he replies that he doesn’t feel taken advantage of. Jeremy says Wallace told him that she was stressed out about her dad. Jeremy proceeds to play video games whilst Verona naps.
Jeremy asks if she’d hang out with another guy like this and she says no, she says she doesn’t want to hurt him.
They talk about Verona’s dad and Verona tells him about the sinking feel whenever he comes home from work, she goes on to explain what being at home feels like and how terrible it is. She pulls out her broken cat mask and tells him she thought about showing it to her dad. Jeremy hugs her.
She asks him if he wants to bone and tells him she has protection but Jeremy turns her down says he’d rather do it on a “good day with highlights” than to distract her from meeting her dad. Verona asks if they can take turns playing Jeremy’s video game whilst trying to distract each other, then the two of them go for a swim together.
Verona and her CAS worker, David meet her dad at a picnic bench. He says this has been a reality check for him and that the way he’s acts was bullying. He also says he’ll cut down the hours he works and do more of the cooking. Verona worries if she says the wrong thing she’ll end up at her mum’s.
Verona asks if she can leave early. Her dad departs and she and David talk about what her next step is.
Lucy and Avery find Verona in the house on half street reading a book on demesnes, she explains she wants a place to retreat to.
She also says that she can’t perform the ritual because they would have to open up the house and let people in and they could take the furs.
