One After Another 10.c is the fourth chapter and the third Interlude of One After Another. Chloe tries to be Normal, she fails. Crooked Rook offers a fix she doesn't take it. Feeling broken she thinks she can at least do one thing right.

Chloe is taking advantage of her circumstances to try and clean and spruce up the factory that Nibble and her have holed up in. It's safety and amenities have been guaranteed by Kennet's supernatural population. She checks in on Nibble making sure he's feed and reasonably happy while she does her work. She hurts from the light and takes pains to select good clothes.
While doing so Chloe tries hard not to remember the situation that made her a ghoul and can't remember her childhood home. She tries to take a Shower but the running water knocks her out, Nibble needs to come in and rescue her, then helps her complete her wash. She confesses to Nibble that she doesn't think she was a good person in her previous life that he wouldn't have liked her at all, he disagrees, afterwards this Chloe lays down to sleep.
She wakes up and heads downstairs hear a discussion between Crooked Rook and Nibble. Aside from the politics of the situation with the Kennet Others some options are laid out for a Rook directed Transmutation of Chloe, but the immediate option looks to deprive her of one of the few things that kept her going throughout her horrible second life. Rook suggests they have a second meeting to go over things more carefully. Chloe heads back to the bedroom to get dressed for the patrol.
Their Patrol is initially uneventful with Chloe steering while the two talk about the potential politics of their situation. She does have the best Eyes out of all of the two of them. Then there's the witch hunter guy. They run into his salt line, and then his collection of Ghosts. They flee tripping bell alarms that give him the chance to shoot at them. This largely fails. They come upon a Cabin that has two of the trio and a Aware girl in it. Nibble goes to talk to them Chloe hangs back, thinking that with all that's going wrong with her life she wouldn't think it a big loss if she had to sacrifice herself for him and the town.
