Personality[edit]
Jasmine is a very kind and lovely person as well as a great mom.
Relationships[edit]
Jasmine has a close loving relationship with her children, Booker and Lucy. She also has a good relationship with Lucy's friends, especially Verona.
Jasmine's husband died many years ago. More recently she dated Paul, and they had a great relationship for five years, getting engaged and buying a house together. However, Paul's family were racist and didn't like that he was dating a black woman, and he chose to take his family's side and abandoned Jasmine and her family.
Her parents were strict and authoritarian, in order to get away she followed in her mothers foot steps and went into nursing.<ref>“My mom was a nurse. I was just at the cusp of that era, they were telling us we could be anything, but if you asked my parents, they didn’t really mean it. A woman could be a teacher or a nurse. My parents were terrors. Bad grade, out past curfew? Bend me over the knee and give me a whupping. I guess I didn’t want to test things, so I took my mom’s cue. It helped me get away, I met the man who’d be my husband, delayed the last part of nursing school to raise the kids, and then my husband passed.”- Excerpt from Summer Break</ref>
Her husbanded died from hepatitis, transmitted from a friend of his. Doctors failed to spot the signs, possible due to racial differences.<ref>“Hepatitis, from close work with a coworker who was doing some dirty jobs. The doctors didn’t listen to him, didn’t see the signs. Booker found him.”- Excerpt from Summer Break</ref>
Abilities[edit]
She's a fully qualified nurse.
Chronology[edit]
Her previous job was to visit elderly people in the local area and showing them how to take their drugs and monitor them for the first six applications in case they developed side effects. She disliked to job due to the unpredictable hours.<ref>It was her mom’s latest job, which was mostly better than the last one. She’d heard mom explaining it to Alison, their neighbor and her mom’s friend. She traveled around to different houses, sometimes in nearby areas like Swanson, and taught old people how to take the company’s drug, the side effects. Each client had a different schedule, and they had to be monitored for the first six applications or whatever. It meant her mom was gone at completely random times. Sometimes before school, sometimes when Lucy went to bed.- Excerpt from Lost for Words 1.6</ref>
She has recently got a new job after Avery's dad recommended her.<ref>“Hospital?” she asked again, more insistent.
“Nothing to worry about-” her mom told her.
“You’re obligated to say that, aren’t you? It could be almost anything and you’d be trying to get me not to worry.”
“I’m going for a job interview, Lucy. A little after noon. Avery’s dad passed on my name.”- Excerpt from Shaking Hands 9.4</ref><ref>“Did your mom get the job?”
“My mom got the job but-”- Excerpt from One After Another 10.4</ref>
She started dating a doctor at the hospital she works at,<ref>“I’m out with a friend,” Lucy’s mom said. “Working late past dinnertime tomorrow as well.”
“Is this a man friend?” Verona asked, “it came up last night, cute doctors?”
“No comment.”- Excerpt from Summer Break 13.4</ref> it's later revealed that this is actually the egoist that Maricica has been consorting with.<ref>“Yes. He’s- yes. He’s one of the new Doctors.”
The man asked a question. His voice was too smooth, too rich. It could only belong to the Beautiful Man. The second of Maricica’s pawns, that Guilherme had predicted she’d use.- Excerpt from Summer Break 13.10</ref>
With the help of Miss and Rook she successful evades him, after Steven hides in the back of her car she calls the police on him.<ref>- Summer Break</ref>
