Void 7.9 is the ninth chapter of Void. Isadora and Paige have a chat with the thornburn cabal, an informal Toronto Council meeting is held as others arrive.

Plot

The scene with Isadora and Paige is further detailed from the end of the previous chapter. After being assured Paige hasn't lost her Innocence yet, Blake proceeds to introduce everyone and ask why Paige came. Blake answers that Paige would be a deterrent for magic use, and Paige explains that metaphorical rocks and ropes pulled her to Blake. They continue talking about various things, including Blake murdering someone, offers of beer and pizza, and how Evan is so awesome. Isadora uses metaphorical rocks and ropes to explain her idea to claim Paige as her sort of apprentice, despite Paige finding the idea quite embarrassing.

They find out that Grandma Rose wouldn't have paige as an heir because of her sexual orientation. Which plays into why Isadora thinks her offer of 'tutelage' would be accepted. In silent agreement Blake okays Rose, unseen to the innocent Paige, breaking the TV to try and get Paige to rethink her choice, it just draws her closer. It does serve to alert everyone that others are coming.

First to arrive is the Shepard, followed by the Astrologer, Sisters of the Torch, Jeremy Meath, Knights of the Basement, Behaim Circle, and finally Emily Attwell and her 'bodyguard'. Diana feels sorry for killing Fell. The Elder sister admits she wants to be the new leader. The Knights congratulate Blake for living, while Emily and the Behaims want revenge. Blake simply wants to be left alone, and to deal with the Abstract Demon in the factory. After the meeting has finished, Blake explains to Rose that he wants to find an Implement and to figure out a way around the fact he swore in the meeting not to use any magic.
