Left in the Dust 16.9 is the ninth chapter of Left in the Dust.

Plot

Verona swears to defend her claim in the Undercity and Kennet Found then draws a diagram to connect the three. She moves into Kennet Below and finds the Vice Principal and Mallory their, she gives the VP a t-shirt in return for her not contesting her claim, then she throws some art supplies at the wall and a drawing of her and her pet appears their.

Next comes a rush of echos, memories and emotions from inside the house getting attacked, Verona throws salt at them.

Last is a wraith comprised of the feeling of coming home, after defeating it the mural becomes brighter.

Matthew comes and offers Verona a breather and doesn’t contest her claim, a black is added to the mural. Next the Bitter Street Witch approaches offers her a dead bird and doesn’t contest her claim. A naked women is added to the mural.

The Foreman arrives, says he wants to rule all over Kennet, above and below. Verona offers him a battle of champions, no magic, Lucy verse a man named Stew Mullen. During the fight The Foreman kicks Lucy and Verona says that now he’s helped directly she can do the same, throwing alchemy liquid over Stew. The Foreman tries to shoot Verona but she deflects with a spell card and Lucy stabs Stew. The Foreman refuses to give up and the Family Man steps up behind him and kills him.

The Family Man asks Verona why everything is so dark, he says part of her is willing to hurt others. He challenges her to a fight to the death but she insist on it being to defeat.

Verona summons her summon, powering it with the Sanguine stone, it attacks the Family Man. She creates a copy of herself with glamour, hides using glamour, cancels the summons which rushes to attack the fake Verona. Verona drinks a Hyde concoction, becoming swifter, hitting him with the ugly stick and rasp. She throws spell cards at him and stabs the Thorn of Flesh into him before the transformation reverts.

They grapple and after she’s free she stick a load of spell cards on him, she then pushes the thorn of flesh against his heart and he threatens to tear her hand off. She challenges him to name five people that want him in the Undercity, whilst managing to name five herself, she pushes the thorn in and he forfeits. The mural now has white banners on it.

The Carmine Exile enters and tells her that she won’t like what the other judges have planned for to be able to claim Lost Kennet.
