6.x (Histories: Aimon Behaim) is the twelfth chapter and only interlude of Subordination. Home from the war, Aimon takes a new path with an old enemy and changes the course of his life.
Plot[edit]
Aimon wakes in horror to find himself and Roselyn outside, having finished with their dirty fighting. They converse about many things, mostly about what their families might do if they find out and some lewd comments about their characters, motivations, and relationship.
Four days later, Aimon is working and mentally griping about his injuries, guilty conscience, and dislike of numbers. Roselyn enters his office to talk with Aimon about an idea she had been working on. The world's old systems are slowing wearing away, and likewise their families will slowly wear away as well. She wants to change the system while they still have the power to do so. They agree to discuss the how later that night.
They meet up again to discuss how they will change the system. Roselyn suggests Aimon gets possessed so that he may be free to aid her in her plans. He rejects the idea, and asks her why she even wants his help and why she can't just endure the bad parts of life. She answers back that she feels she owes it to her family to have this goal, and that she's afraid people are going to get hurt if she goes for it alone. He still refuses her plan, explaining the reason why is because he still has to return to the horrors of the battlefield. Roselyn will continue anyway, since she doesn't have much time left before she inherits her family's bad karma. Aimon agrees to at least offer her his guidance.
Thirty-five years later, Aimon is now head of the family. Roselyn arrives with her newborn, Charles, to congratulate his freedom. He still remembers the night Charles was used as bait to bind Barbatorem. They discuss for a final time about the plan to change the system, and they agree that the next generation should be the ones to do it. Laird will be taught enough Diabolism to protect the family and the Thorburns' lifespans shall be protected until the time comes. As a final note, Roselyn mentions the Barber can offer another type of protection for her next heir. The demon's ability to carve out someone's reflection.
