Plot

Snowdrop signals Avery and she uses city magic to move to her location. She finds her observing Florin as he hosts a large party. She see several influential people that Florin has been holding regular meetings with, this includes the Scobie family. The people inside seem to have been taken over by doppelgängers.

As the two of them go to climb down the fire escape they find a women their, she talks with Florin’s voice. He says he’s not working for Musser but would consider selling Thunderbay to him.

Nora phones and asks if Avery want to hang out, Avery says she’s busy and they’ll talk later.

Florin tries to compromise and says he could put Raquel in charge, with himself acting as regent. He lets her leave and promises that if she does nothing that he’ll let her stay in Thunder Bay and protect her family. He says the only people he hasn’t planned for are Avery and Franky.

She asks Florin to wait but he says he can’t, he has to act now whilst Musser's occupied.

Avery gets Ashumare Ashumare to contact the Lord then dials Nora.

Avery joins Nora looking after her two brothers, Luke and Henry.

Ashumare appears and Avery tells him that Florin is making his move, she also asks if he of the Lord could get her a folding table.

Avery and Nora go out for a walk, picking up cookies, when they get back Avery kisses her out of sight from her family then says she might be out of town for a while.

During training Jeanine is complaining about the lack of cute girls in her life. She continues dramatically complaining until Coach Artrip makes her run laps, Avery and Hui are also made to run laps. As they run Jeanine tries to suggest Nora might be a serial killer, Avery reacts angrily and tells her to stop.

Suddenly Avery receives Verona’s text she also gets one warning of storms over Thunder Bay. She calls The Car Song to pick her up.

Ann and Deb are already with the Lord, Avery tells them what’s happening as other members of the council start arriving.

Deb says that Florin has brought in allies and that a false storm  created by Mrs. Ferguson is approaching that is interfering with the Lords sanctum, damaging it’s integrity, the Lord ejects everyone.

Many of the more minor practitioners decide to stay on the sidelines and not get involved, including the Gleners, Franky, Harless and the Childs.

Deb and Aze start fighting against Ferguson whilst Avery moves closer. She uses the Jounce to materialise a metal beam which is whirled around by the wind and distracts Mrs Ferguson.

Odis starts creating soldiers from the Vestiges of his victims.

Avery uses her ability to see connections provided by her sight to find Florin, Avery pings She who Drowns by Moonlight who sends her a ping pong table.

Avery actives her shoes by shouting “deer takes king”, dodges Florin’s puppets and lunges for him. She rolls of a window ledge and grabs a curtain, using it to get into a vacant office then charges at Florin again. She pulls the charms off her bracelet, throws them then charges Florin into the table transporting him to the Bound to the Party Path.

Avery says she intends to try him before the council, that she’ll get him back to earth but she’ll be gone for a few days but that she’ll let her friends know he’s here in case something happens to her.

She walks off and a rat says she doesn’t need to worry about the rules of the path due to Hazel’s rule of pursuit. He also informs her Mr Snipe is armed and that she won’t get any boon from this.
