Titans are physically large beings that land somewhere between primevals and gods, both historically and in their nature. They are composed of Elemental power and have dominion over these elements. They can be considered deific creatures, being akin to gods before being left behind.

History

Before the seal, and before the age of gods, primevals existed as extremely powerful animalistic beings. But as humanity slowly grew as a species, so did their understanding of the world. The unknown gave way to human concepts such as farming, seasons, and the elements, and with it came faith in those things.<ref>“Good.  Some of the primevals might have taken forms paralleling humanity, and found power as humans found power.  Agriculture, tool use, calendars, language.  Riding that rising tide.  Except humanity moved on.” - Finish Off 24.7</ref> Titans were the firstborn of such faith, and existed as rough-edged precursors to ancient gods. They existed as a middle step between the ancient, primal world and the world of modern humanity, and predate concepts such as Law<ref>“I’m a historian, so I’ve come across details, researching for the oldest cities.  Titans predate Law, straddling a middle step of history, between primeval chaos and the advent of humanity.” - Finish Off 24.7</ref>. There is a theory that Titans were once primevals who took on parallels of humanity, becoming something more understandable<ref>“Good.  Some of the primevals might have taken forms paralleling humanity, and found power as humans found power. - Finish Off 24.7</ref>.

Eventually, as humanity grew, they began to codify the world and create gods. The Titans did not, or were unable to, keep up with humanity and were left behind as a result. They were overwhelmed and defeated by the divinities and higher powers of the world, and many of the remaining ones are sequestered in unreachable realms or recovering from wounds millennia later<ref name=":0">“Yes.  They’re rarer than the primevals Durocher deals with, and many are wounded from wars before the Seal, or sequestered in places humanity can’t even approach.”

“And our guy made one?  Theoretically?”

“Theoretically.”

“Potentially weaker than a god?”

“Potentially stronger than one.  Titans collectively, if you go by the origins, were overwhelmed and defeated by divinities and higher powers around the world, but individual Titans were no slouch.” - Finish Off 24.7</ref>.

Abilities

Titans may be more individually powerful than gods, depending on their nature<ref name=":0" />. Titans, being composed of elements, have control over such things<ref>The Storm was the Toddler Titan’s now, by birthright or because Titans and Storms were like fish and water. - Finish Off 24.7</ref>. When an Alchemically-Made Titan was born, it's birth granted it dominion over the surrounding storm<ref>They controlled the Titan, the Titan controlled the Storm. - Finish Off 24.7</ref>. It used this power to devastating effect, controlling the wind, ice, and lightning of it in a directed manner. Some Titans may only be able to see in terms of the flow of these elements, as the Alchemical Titan seemed to react to the appearance of fire better than it did with sight.

They are some of the things Judges and other forces are supposed to sort out<ref>Even as a toddler, a Titan seemed like the sort of thing judges were meant to sort out.  Like the time looping Worold Ted Havens and his war against the primeval. - Finish Off 24.7</ref>.

Creation

At least one titan was created through the usage of Alchemy. It was composed of rare and hard to find materials (collected by a Dragonslayer)<ref>“Yeah.  Yeah, I figure Joel was working behind the scenes to get the materials to do that big fuck-off alchemy-derived Titan thing.  Elements of Creation, food for elementals, whatever.  If he’s a big expert on killing big elementals, I’m thinking he probably knew the details on Titans.” - Finish Off 24.7</ref> and formed with a "Frame" that it broke out of when born. An interruption in the ritual caused it to be somewhat uncontrollable by its creators. The Alchemical Titan proved to be extremely wrathful in nature, and seems to be acting on instinct and the guidance of its creators alone. It rapidly matured from a fetus to a young man in a short span of time, indicating a heightened growth rate.
