Playing a Part 15.9 is the ninth chapter of Playing a Part.
Plot[edit]
Lucy, Rook and Matthew discuss the rules with the Witch of Bitter Street with her arguing their to restrictive.
The family man tries to get the Kennet Others to return Bracken, Bag and Doyle. Lucy refuses. The Kennet Others offer to let them attend council meetings but the family man refuses.
The Bitter Street Witch bites the head off a bird then talks to Lucy alone, she tells her that she’s tired and worried about her security. She says she’ll consider joining the council depending on the terms but she wants the Family Man removed first.
Her ability to see the future has gotten better over the last few weeks. She sees Marlen inside a barn and the family man coercing her into making Oaths, getting her to agree to traffic women in exchange for her freedom. The Family Man will have one of his women break her motorcycle. She tells them to wait until the rabbits appear on the ski hill and that they’d have until they scatter to act.
The family man make the Bitter Street Witch his offer, three girls for each of her brothers, them to become his lieutenants in exchange for her territory.
Rook, Miss, Matthew, Grandfather, Doe, Tashlit, Nibble and Lucy are watching the barn. Lucy spots the rabbit as a watercolour in her sight and they all attack. Lucy turns into three foxes
Doe shoots two people dead, Lucy asks Grandfather not to shoot because she wants him to stay good.
They find Marlen in the rafters, Lucy pushes Tashlit out of the way and Doe shoots her in the leg. They proceed to capture her.
Matthew pings Lucy as she thinks about how lonely she is. After reaching Matthew she finds him with two boys and seven girls from the Family Man’s gang asking for shelter.
She then thinks about if Grandfather would make a good replacement Carmine.
