Freak and Squeak is a dividual Lost that Avery freed from the Garrack Finders.

Personality

Freak is rude, aggressive and enjoys abusing Squeak.

Squeak is timid, shy and incompetent.<ref>“Apparently he is incompetent,” Avery said.  She flipped through pages on her phone.  “All the rhymes have him messing up.  Lots of violence from her, I guess.”

“That’s me,” Freak said, jabbing a thumb at her chest.  “Ludicrous violence like water from a water pump.”- Excerpt from Summer Break 13.9</ref> At the same time he can be lovable.<ref name="14v">Verona stepped forward, and staggered back a step as Squeak hurled himself at her, crashing into the ground at her feet, rolling onto his back, rubbing his face against her front.

“Heyyyy, Squeak, my man,” Verona greeted him, giving him a vigorous rub.  “Gentle soul.”

“The fuck?” Freak raised her voice, before stomping over.  She had a sash that read ‘guidance’.  “Oh.  You.”

“Heya Freak.  You’re here.”

“Status, respect, food, chance to cave in the occasional face.  Only bad part is I’ve got that loser coming along for it.”

Verona rubbed the patchy fur at Squeak’s chest.  His head lolled one way and the other in delight.

“You know them?” the Vice Principal asked.

“What’d you do?” Freak asked, quiet.

“I asked you a question, Freak.”

“Just showed up,” Verona replied.  “Asking around.”

“Because if you did something and I back you up, they’re going to get on my case and I’m going to have to do some murderin’,” Freak told Verona, quiet.

“I don’t think I did anything, and try to avoid the murdering.  I know the rules and expectations are different here, but… yeah.”

“Freak, last warning,” the Vice Principal called out.

Freak’s eyes narrowed.

“I know them,” Freak said, without taking her eyes off Verona.

“Your call then.  Do you vouch or do we draw straws to decide which staff member deals with her?”

Freak seemed to consider.  Squeak moaned, which got him a hard look from the little girl with flowers in her hair.

“I vouch,” Freak declared.  Under her breath, she said, “Don’t fucking make me regret this.  Come on, Squeak, you’re getting your stink on her.”

Squeak moaned, made apologetic sounds, and loped off.  Verona leaned forward to extend the shoulder rub a bit. - Excerpt from Fall Out 14.3</ref>

Relationships

Goblins

Claims to get along well with Goblins due to their aggressiveness.<ref name=app/>

Vice-Principal

Made friends with the girl really quickly.<ref>“She’s cool.  She’s a friend,” Freak said, sounding sullen.  Her thumb turned, indicating the Vice Principal.

Made a friend, Freak? Verona thought.

“Is she?” the Vice Principal asked.  The thumb disappeared.

And the V.P. thinks Freak is talking about me.
[...]
The Vice Principal, despite herself, was nodding along a little.  She startled a little as Freak leaped up onto the man’s back and jostled her in her excitement.  That alone did a lot to break the cultivated composure.
[...]
“It’s cool you made a friend,” Verona told Freak.

“Mm.  Better than this stinking loser who follows me everywhere and drools on everything,” Freak said, indicating Squeak. - Excerpt from Fall Out 14.3</ref>

Appearance

Freak is a girl of around eight with long blond hair, a white dress with pink lace at the front and sandals. Her hair and sandals have flowers in them that constantly fall to the ground as new ones bloom to replace them.<ref name=app/>She later added a sash to go with her new role as guidance counselor.<ref name="14v"/>

Squeak is roughly nine foot tall humanoid partially covered with light pink fur with distended eyes, snaggletooth, a lolling tongue, mismatched limbs and anatomically correct package.<ref name=app>Freak and Squeak were two Lost, standing in the circle.  One was a girl, about eight or so, with silken blond hair, straight and so fine it looked hard to manage, falling into pure, untangled lengths.  She wore a dress that was white, with lacy pink down the front, sandals with flowers in them, and similar flowers in her hair.  The flowers were perpetually unfolding and blooming, shedding petals, making room for others to bloom.  Her hands clutched at her dress.  Long eyelashes had flower petals caught in them.

The other was about nine feet tall, hairy, and bug-eyed, eyes pointing in different directions, with drool leaking between fangs, a tongue hanging down.  It was a kind of fairy tale, storybook kind of monster though, with colorful white-pink fur that took a red tint at the tips.  Tufted fur did a bad job of hiding dangling genitals, and uneven limbs gave him a perpetual lean to one side. - Excerpt from Summer Break 13.9</ref><ref name="14v"/>

Abilities

Freak and Squeak are one Other acting as two,<ref>Avery looked at the notes, while Squeak put Freak on his shoulder.  “They’re one Other, even though they look and act like two.”- Excerpt from Summer Break 13.9</ref> Freak was able to use this to prevent herself getting eaten by Rabbit Killers shadow.<ref>They’re one and the same.  They’re attached.  Can’t eat one without swallowing the other, any more than you can eat a brownie in one bite by biting off half.- Excerpt from Summer Break 13.9</ref> This extends to their Rule of Discourse which allows them to talk as if they're two different people, as well as understanding Snowdrop.<ref>“The goblins are going to hate her,” Snowdrop said.

“Damn straight goblins like me,” Freak said.  “I even scared the literal poop out of some, going all out on some doofus Abyssal.”
[...]
“We’re going to handle some sensitive stuff,” Avery said.  “Look, if you can’t be still, be good, if you’re going to cause a commotion-”

“I’ll make sure he’s good.  He knows what happens if he doesn’t listen.”

“I’m worried about you too.”

“Enh,” the little girl grunted.  “Dedicating all my attention to him means I don’t get to have much fun.”

“That doesn’t mean she won’t cause trouble,” Snowdrop said, like she was confiding in them.

“Rule of discourse?” Avery asked.

“Nah.” - Excerpt from Summer Break 13.9</ref>

When dealing with some Witch Hunters Freak tried to act like an innocent girl that the monstrous Squeak was but was not able to sell it.

Squeal is tough enough to be able to survive being shot multiple times.<ref>Squeak made an apologetic whining noise, and hurried forward, plugging up three different bullet holes in his own chest with claw-tips while he ran, which made him run even more off-balance.- Excerpt from Summer Break 13.11</ref>

Freak is extremely strong but Squeak is not.<ref>She’s strong.  He’s… not especially.- Excerpt from Summer Break 13.9</ref>

They don't have a good understanding of modern technology having missed out the better part of a century of technological developments.<ref>“Gotta reach under, grab it by the handle,” Avery said.

Freak looked at Avery, like she hadn’t known that.  “Squeak, you blithering idiot!  It’s so obvious!”- Excerpt from Summer Break 13.11</ref>

Summoning

They can be summoned by saying one of twenty rhymes, each time you say a rhyme it increase the chance of summoning them.<ref name=sb>“Freak and Squeak went down to the creek, to spy on Mr. Cotter.  The pair had cheek, to sneak a peek down there by the water.  The old man shrieked, and Squeak was meek, and ne’er a chase was hotter.  But Freak could sneak and violence wreak, and kill’d the man who’d slaughter’d.”
[...]
“There are like twenty of these, some longer, there’s apparently a random chance that they work, but the chance goes up for each one you do.  Ummm… “Freak and Squeak-”
[...]
“Sixty years,” Freak muttered, as she rode Squeak out of the circle, pulling on his hair and ears to steer him.  “Sixty years we were bound.”

“I heard it was a while,” Avery said.  “You were sleeping?”

“Like a coma.  This guy can tell you about comas.  I’ve put him in…”

She started to count on fingers, stuck out toes, then reached down to pull on arm hair, until he lifted up claws for her to count on.

“…A bunch.  Only way I get any peace.” - Excerpt from Summer Break 13.9</ref>

Chronology

The two of them were bound for sixty years before Avery released them, they were effectively unconscious that entire time.<ref name=sb/>

They helped out in the fight against the Witch Hunters Emmett and Marta.

They stuck around afterwards and made friends with the Vice Principle in the School of the Kennet Undercity.<ref>“She’s cool.  She’s a friend,” Freak said, sounding sullen.  Her thumb turned, indicating the Vice Principal.- Excerpt from Fall Out 14.3</ref>
