Summer Break 13.4 is the fourth chapter of Summer Break.
Plot[edit]
Lucy packs her practice tools up and then starts experimenting with diagrams. She creates spell cards that stick to people when she hits them. Lucy says she’s going to visit John and ask him about the goblins, Verona is planning to visit Jeremy.
Jasmine talks to the girls about the argument they had last night, Verona wants Lucy to butt out, they agree to drop the issue for now. Jasmine informs Verona that her mum wants to visit and spent time with her, she also says their no longer grounded. She also has a meeting between herself, her dad and a CAS worker.
It’s implied that Jasmine is meeting with a man.
Lucy leaves to find John, passing Ramjam on her way who is reading a girls advice magazine.
She finds John near the Arena, spying on Musser. Lucy creates a connection blocker, empowered with a drop of her own blood to prevent Musser from seeing them.
The two of them try to identify Musser’s various Familiars
- A beautiful women with a lot of power
- A women that appears hideous to John but young to Lucy
- A musician with a wicked smile, dressed all in black that can manipulates shadows to kills small animals
- Four Abyssal Others in a black raincoat and apron that can switch whos on top (one of them is called Hans)
Lucy asks John to sent some of the goblins to Avery, she also informs him that they might not be trustworthy. She then tries to ask about “boy stuff” and John informs her that he might be the worst Other to ask, except for Miss. John says that he believes Jeremy is resilient enough to survive even if his relationship with Verona breaks down.
Lucy explains that Jeremy like Verona 12/10 and that he’ll be crush if their relationship breaks down, John says Jeremy is resilient enough to survive. Lucy confesses that it would hurt her as well like it hurt when Paul left Jasmine.
Musser starts drawing a diagram.
Lucy talks about Johns deal with the Judges, John tells her he made the deal to keep a promise he made to himself.
Lucy asks him to become her familiar and he says he’ll think on it.
Musser’s ritual recreates the night the Carmine Beast died, John tries to interrupt the ritual by attacking him and Lucy runs around to the side of the building.
John gets tackled by the four Others in a coat
Lucy uses glamour to create fire, Lucy uses the spell cards she’s drawn with John, throwing the cards as john shoots.
One of the others throws chains around John’s arms leaving him hanging in mid air and starts cutting him with a scalpel.
Lucy turns herself into five foxes made of smoke, she kicks the Other attacking John and in doing so she attaches a curse to it that will mean it’s a “disappointment to yourself and others”, another paper starts burning in the words disappointment. The two of them flee and as they leave Lucy puts a spell card on the door to make it harder to open.
They talk about the goblins, John says it hurts that his friends betrayed him and suggests it might only be Bluntmuch that’s switched sides.
