Mckay is a Doppelgänger.<ref name=":0">"Officer Mckay has a substance abuse problem, and there I am, a huge, ugly asshole who gives him a lot of product and buys him a lot of drinks for very little in return. He starts finding he isn't himself when he drinks. Gets into fights, I'm there to back him up. I give him three chances to go, to say no, to take the better path. Three. A little while after the third time, he gets in a car accident. One version of him carries on into town, to pick up the job he was supposed to do, see his family, live his life. Me. Another version is so hurt in the crash they can't even identify him."
"A dopplegänger?" John asked.
"I dunno. I don't pay attention to the labels or terms. I just carry on. He'll eventually get better. Partially. And for every bit he gets better, I'll get bigger and uglier until it's time to move on, find my next ride." - Excerpt from Shaking Hands 9.5</ref>
Personality[edit]
He targets individuals with substance abuse problems. He offers his victims drug or alcohol but gives them three chances to refuse and reform themselves. After the third time they refuse they become involved in an accident and he steals their life. As they recover he becomes stronger until it's time for him to move on.<ref name=":0" />
He prefers to take over lawyers and cops, partly because of how much they drink, and partly because they have power and money.<ref>"Yeah. Mckay and that Other have been paired up for a little while now. McKay prefers lawyers and cops."
"Bonus: they drink a lot," McKay said. "A lot of lawyers are alcoholics."
[...]
"Cops have power, lawyers have money," McKay said - Except from Shaking Hands 9.7</ref>
When he moved to Kennet he took over Hailey McKay's uncle.<ref>"Are you related to Hailey McKay?" Lucy asked.
Their classmate, one of the popular girls.
"She's his niece," McKay said. "But no, technically I'm not related to anyone. It's a question of persons and individuals and Selves, you know." - Excerpt from Shaking Hands 9.5</ref>

History[edit]
He move to Kennet with Bridge and the Composite Kid, their they teamed up with Bathos.
Was bound by the Kennet trio but eventually released on the condition that he only targets corrupt officials or those that are alcoholics and dismantle the systems they've put in place.<ref>“Police station has settled, the original McKay arrived, a little worse for wear after his hospital stay. Nobody’s raised an alarm, nothing’s gone wrong. They’ve got him on desk duty. Some muttering about his drinking already. He might not be around for long.”
“And our Mckay?” Edith asked, putting the book down. “The drunkard doppleganger?”
“You don’t need Cig to tell you that. He left without incident. Bound and Sworn to only go after bad cops and corrupt lawyers who drink, which is most cops and all lawyers, in my frank opinion. He has to out them and dismantle the systems they’ve built on his way out.” - Excerpt from One After Another 10.b</ref> The original McKay returned to work.
