Summer Break 13.10 is the eleventh chapter of Summer Break.
Plot
Lucy, Avery and Verona are standing outside the Blue Heron Institute, prevented from going in by durocher’s monster.
Lucy texts Zed and he replies asking if Ray is ok, they ask Durocher what happened, and learn that Rays fine but temporarily blinded, he uses his phone to remove the electric fences that are covering the ground.
Estrella leaves to send a silver lined letter to the courts to prevent Charles and Maricica from travelling through the fea realms and durocher sends one of her summons after them to track them over land. Lucy and Verona mention that it only takes a day to travel to the carmines domain (Kennet) and they’re unable to block access.
Amine arrives and investigates the curse Ray’s under, finding his eyes are glued shut by black honey, a substance that dark fall fae use to allow curses to stick. Ray also tells them to heal Seth and secure him in Charles old quarters.
Back at Kennet Lucy is helping Verona pack up ready to move back home. Verona asks if they hurt their friendship with the arguments they had over Jeremy.
Avery walks in and offers to let her take Snowdrop for the night. Verona gives Lucy a picture of a city with a sword in it and Avery pictures of Kennet. The three of them hug until Lucy’s mum enters, telling Verona her CAS work is outside. Avery also goes home as well as her mom and Sheridan are coming back for the night. Jasmine mentions an end of summer party and asks Lucy to be careful.
Lucy destroys the letter she wrote and hide under her mattress when the trio went after Edith and replaces it with one that’s less vengeful.
Some time later Rook visits her, she tells Lucy that she’s injured due to the fighting between the witch hunters and Raquel and Wye. The two of them talk for a while and rook tells her a story about a fight involving ogre magi. Afterwards she tells Lucy to go to be and that John had said to keep watch on them.
We get a cut back of Ray in the Blue Heron Institute telling them to organise.
Toadswallow directs a meeting of the Kennet council, everyone is in attendance except for Chloe and John. They start by stating their names and that their not compelled, Toadswallow then thanks everyone that helped against the witch hunters.
Lucy says they should create a protective network around Ken, Ken moves to keep the innocents of Kennet out of harms way, they also set up protections around Jabber.
Next Avery and Verona stand up and ask to bind Bluntmunch, Toadswallow calls on all the goblins loyal to him to stand by him, none of the goblins stick with Bluntmunch. Blunt makes to leave but Guilherme appears behind him, Lucy, Avery and Verona throw spell cards at him to trap him in a pit of sand.
Toadswallow asks him who gave him orders, they get Cherrypop and Peckersnot to mock him until he answers. He explains it’s Edith that hired him, joined because he was afraid of Gerhild and that Breastbiter is one of her goblins. He says that the dog meat he created is going to be used to go after them.
Cut back to the Blue Heron Institute and Ray telling them their enemies will make it personal.
Fifteen minuets to midnight and all their preparations are complete. Jasmine suddenly rings Lucy to check on her, and Lucy realises she’s on a date with the egotists.
Avery calls Miss and they ask her to find and rescue Lucy’s mom. Miss asks if Lucy would like to come but she refuses, saying she’ll get played.
Major event
- Lucy, Verona and Avery assess the damage done at the Blue Heron Institute
- Back in Kennet the Other finalise their preperations for the up coming fight
- Bluntmunch is arrested
- Lucy realises Jasmine is on a date with the egotist
