Plot

Avery is being chased through the forest by three Warren Fleshmonglers, she uses spell cards to prevent them catching her. They send mutilated birds that have been combined with other animals at her.

Avery leaps in to the road using her running shoes, the Fleshmongler hits a car, jumps off of it and starts grapples her. Thea uses weird tentacles to grab hold of it and send it back to it’s owner, it starts attacking one of the other Fleshmonglers and they start combining together.

They notices the landscape around them is moving, Avery suspects it’s city magic, possibly by one of the Driscolls.

The Fleshmongler charges at them, Thea transforms into her girlhood self and summons horrors from the deep to tear it apart.

As they walk Thea asks her questions about where her power comes from.

They walk into a clearing and find two stone others with glowing eyes, they black rope out, Avery throws her jounce ball at the gate, replacing it with a shop then they step inside. They using connection blockers, wait for the practitioners and their summons to come in then Avery turns the corridor on it’s side creating chaos and almost causing one of the practitioners to fall through into Thea’s pocket realm. Thea breaks the statues, stabs the Warrens practitioners fingers so they fall into her realm. She’d also stabbed another one in the throat, Avery and Thea argue about saving her, finally Thea blows a horn and heals her.

They bind the practitioner but not before learning that her name is Raine McKintosh and her companions are Lo and Rodrick.

They go outside and find Odis along side the magical residents of the territory preparing to leave, Avery offers them sanctuary but none take them up. Odis offers her a ride home in exchange for safety for the prisoners, first aid and that she’ll arrive in a timely fashion. Odis offers her cooperation but Avery hesitates before excepting, she raises the issue of both his and Theas past.

Odis says he knows Avery is the one that stole Thea’s power source, he asks Thea to let it go and invokes his position as her master and the oaths she swore upon awakening.

He says that their in a war and they all need to cooperate with each other not undercut one another. He then tells Thea that he knows of another object with a realm inside it, that they can start again but this time with “dark justice”.

Odis then says that the new lordships are irrevocable and that they don’t have enough good quality leadership to fill them all. He suggest compromise and negotiation.
