The family is lead by Laird Behaim, who is a chronomancer and can control peoples perception of time. The family are enemies of the Thorburns, largely based on the fact that they believe the Thorburns have simply too much dangerous and unpredictable power amassed, and need to be eliminated in order for everyone else to be safe. Their family is in the position to gain even more power with the upcoming marriage of one of their own to one of the Duchamp Coven, the other powerful group in Jacobs Bell. The Duchamps are a group of women who are all enchantresses, or practitioners who control relationships. They are the other influential group in Jacobs Bell, with a large family lead by Sandra Duchamp. They will only teach their craft to women, which isn't as much of a problem as it would seem due to the fact that they only have female children. They are all very similar looking, with long straight blond hair and light skin. The Duchamps are known for marrying their daughters off to powerful practitioners. At least one member has shown the ability to summon an elf-like other with a 12 foot sword, as of [http://pactwebserial.wordpress.com/2014/01/28/damages-2-4/ Damages 2.4] .

Their goal is to get Blake and any other practitioner to join their law firm at any point. They offer the deal of erasing all karmic debts a person and their ancestors have racked up in return for anywhere between hundreds and tens of thousands of years of service, and the total destruction of the deal maker's past identity. It is hinted that someone who works hard enough can eventually reach the title of Mann, Levinn, or Lewis, which insinuates that the lawyers Blake meets with are not the original founders. Ms. Lewis helps Blake learn a little about how to use his new powers and to bind June to a hatchet for free in [http://pactwebserial.wordpress.com/2014/01/28/damages-2-4/ Damages 2.4] and Damages 2.5.

The various groups and organizations of the story.

Jacob's Bell

Behaim Circle

The Behaim Circle is a large extended family in Jacob's Bell, and one of the most influential groups in the town. Unlike many circles and covens, the Behaims do not focus on one area of expertise but instead spread themselves over a variety of subjects as Dabblers. The family is lead by Laird Behaim until his death and later Craig Behaim.

Duchamp Coven

The Duchamps are a group of women who are all enchantresses, or practitioners who control relationships, led by Sandra Duchamp. They are all very similar looking, with long straight blond hair and light skin, and only women are born into the family due to ancient magic placed upon them.

Mann, Levinn, and Lewis Law Firm

A supernatural law firm that works for the Thorburns in addition to many other clients. Their immediate goal is to get Blake and any other practitioner to join their law firm at any point, allowing them to erase all karmic debts a person and their ancestors have racked up in return for anywhere between hundreds and tens of thousands of years of service, and the total destruction of the deal maker's past identity. However, every deal they make give Demons a foothold into the world, furthering their agenda.
