Liberty Tedd is a student at the Blue Heron Institute and sister to America Tedd.

Personality

She is highly inappropriate and proud of it<ref name=":0">Liberty regularly toed the line of mom-appropriate stuff, for one thing, and she didn’t really ‘get’ living with innocents.- Excerpt from Fall Out 14.1</ref> but despite this she can be highly compassionate about the goblins in her care. As a result she has became a minor celebrity to the regional goblins, so much so that whenever she travels via the Warrens hordes of goblins tend to follow her.<ref>“I guess he’ll send someone to pick me up.  I can use the warrens to travel places fast, but whatever route I take, enough goblins follow me that the goblin population in wherever my destination is like, I don’t know exactly, but I feel like it could double.”- Excerpt from Left in the Dust 16.2</ref>

Her goblins tried and failed to persuade her to participate in the Hungry Chior's ritual.<ref>“Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.  Some goblins explained it to me a while back.  Yeah.  Like, Liberty, you’re badass, why worry about your weight when you could do this thing?  Glad I didn’t.  I would’ve won though.”- Excerpt from Dash to Pieces 11.8</ref>

She doesn't understand the difficulties of living with innocents.<ref name=":0" />

Relationships

Her sister America Tedd is one of the few people she trusts and loves and when she was captured by Bristow Liberty became extremely distressed.<ref>She didn’t want to.  She was tired of fighting.  America had been caught and bound and Liberty had been quietly freaking out.  ‘Meri might have only ever had daddy and Alexander and Liberty backing her up, but Liberty had only ever had America and daddy.- Excerpt from Vanishing Points 8.a</ref> The two of them made a promise when they were younger not to let their sisterhood slip away.<ref>But they’d made a deal early on.  To not let their sisterhood slip away, like so many sisters did.

Liberty thinks of her father, Anthem Tedd as a hero.<ref>‘Meri is awesome, even if she goes all out.  And my dad is my hero.”- Excerpt from Left in the Dust 16.2</ref> After having two girls the rest of the family tried to get Anthem to have a male heir, when he refused they cut him out of the family money. He went on to be so successful that they asked him to come back, he did on the condition that they apologise to Liberty and America and give them access to family resources when their older.<ref>“There’s stuff you don’t know, okay?” Liberty pressed.  “My family’s pretty well off, had money, has a history and business going back a good while.  My family history is packed with badasses and asskickers, usually both.  My dad had ‘Meri and me, and his dad was all, ‘You’ve got to have a son’.  My dad said no, not if it meant ‘Meri and me would get made secondary or treated as lesser.  So he got cut out of the family money, kicked enough ass at life to make them beg him to come back, and made them apologize and agree to cut us into family funds and resources when we come of age.  How many dads would go that far?”- Excerpt from Left in the Dust 16.3</ref>

Most of what she knows about goblins comes from Toadswallow, as a result she feels deep affection for him.<ref>Liberty took a step, then broke into a run.  She leaped into the space between the gas station and the house next door, tackling Toadswallow.  She planted a kiss on his cheek.

“Toadie, it’s been forever!  Where did you come from!?  Have you been here all along, somehow?”- Excerpt from Gone Ahead 7.1</ref> She was deeply saddened when he torn the pages out of the book needed to summon him.<ref>“It’s nothing against you, Liberty,” Toadswallow said.  “Someone like your father wanted me on a full-time basis.  A complete and total binding, maybe as a familiar.  I wasn’t interested, so I had to drop away.”

She befriended a goblin that looked like a rabbit named Flops-left, inviting him into her crew. After the fight at the bridge he told her that John had shot Alexander.

Her and Avery are in regular contact.<ref>“I can talk to Liberty,” Avery said.  “We exchange messages sometimes.  I send her Snowdrop pictures and some goblin stuff as a once-a-week thing.  Any more than that and I think I’d be pestering her.”- Excerpt from Dash to Pieces 11.8</ref> During a video conference she tried to get Avery to set her up with one of her brothers.<ref>“I have an older brother, but he’s twenty, has a girlfriend.”

Appearance

Her hair has streaks of dye in it and a nose ring.<ref>The dyed streaks of hair, nose ring, and the nails pushed through her bra cup and out her shirt made it pretty clear she was a goblin princess or a weirdo of the tenth caliber.  If America was gone, who was the other one?  Liberty.- Excerpt from Fall Out 14.z</ref> She wears a tank top with blood stains on it, has filed down teeth and mangled braces.<ref>Liberty, America’s younger sister, was similar, but wore a tank top with an old bloodstain on it, and when she smiled and cheered for the doll it was apparent she’d filed her teeth down.  The braces that had been on those teeth were mangled.  ‘Goblin raider princess’.- Excpert from Leaving a Mark 4.9</ref> She later fixed her teeth so they were no longer filed down.<ref>“Did Liberty get braces off?” Avery’s mom asked, approaching.

Abilities

She is a skilled goblin mage.

• She has a deck of cards, each of which contains a bound goblin.<ref>Liberty cackled, and she cackled all the way into the arena.  She had what might have been a deck of cards or a collection of drawings, and she held it as a stack, doing the ‘make it rain’ gesture to scatter them.  Where they landed, goblins about Gashwad’s size appeared in the short grass.- Excerpt from Cutting Class 6.7</ref>
• She has the ability to explode her goblins into a ball of fire.<ref>Liberty snatched a Gashwad-sized goblin off the ground, whispered something to it, and then hurled it.
  
  It started to smoke, then ignited.
  
  It detonated into a ball of fire a second later, it left the field burning.  Avery had to change direction and hop over goblins.- Excerpt from Cutting Class 6.7</ref>
• Can summon far away goblins by whistling.<ref>“Beat some people up?  I’m a raider princess, I kick the door in and I need people to cover the flanks.  You gotta be ready to deploy through the nearest Warren hole.  My power greases the way, I whistle and you’d come crashing in through a window or something, with a bunch of other goblins.  Doesn’t that sound fun?”- Excerpt from Vanishing Points 8.a</ref>
• She can nullify clean water by throwing a dead rat into it, the resultant water becomes infested with rat corpses.<ref>Liberty reached into her pocket, then pulled out a dead rat wrapped in flypaper.

• She has her own transformation sequence where she throws down a smoke pellet and goblins run and put on her battle gear.<ref>Liberty hurled her own pellet down.  It exploded into smoke.  She put her arms out, t-pose, and waited, rolling her eyes, as goblins updated her outfit.- Excerpt from Vanishing Points 8.a</ref>
• Her sight allows her to see damaged and weak points in things.<ref>Her Sight glowed beneath the visor of the hot metal helmet she wore, and she could see that damage, the weak points, the stronger material, like television static running through everything, sometimes thin, sometimes dense, sometimes a disrupted, easy flow.- Excerpt from Vanishing Points 8.a</ref>

She keeps some of her goblins on a keychain.<ref>Liberty had pushed the curtain dividing the two halves of the space back, and was showing Sheridan her keychain.  The figurines that hung from it looked like colored rubber, in shades of dark green, jaundiced yellow, rust red, poo brown.- Excerpt from Left in the Dust 16.2</ref> Whilst in this form she can use their farts as a form of mace to disable foes.<ref>Sheridan frowned at her, then she scratched Flopsy’s belly lightly.  She lowered her nose to him, and Liberty flipped Flopsy around, butt-up, and gave him a fierce squeeze.

The fart produced would have been one a very gross adult man would have been proud of.  Right in Sheridan’s face.

Sheridan sat down hard on her bed, eyes wide, mouth agape, a fish out of water, unable to breathe.  Then her eyes widened further as the smell hit her.  She retch-coughed.- Excerpt from Left in the Dust 16.2</ref>

She also owns a rubber chicken that produces a loud noise.<ref>“Faerie,” Liberty told her, reaching into her bag.  She pulled out a rubber toy resembling a chicken, with a can shoved up its behind.  She shoved it up toward Maricica’s face.

Liberty thrust the toy chicken into the air.  The can elicited a violent, loud noise, like a tuneless horn, and the sound was filtered through the chicken.  The result was a blare fit for the trumpets of those Abyssal armies that fought to co-opt and capture sections of other unearthly realms.- Excerpt from Dash to Pieces 11.z</ref> In addition to this she has some firecrackers, a small terrarium, a little treasure box and a jar of blood.<ref>She unzipped her bag, and set some weapons, firecrackers, a small terrarium with scratched sides, a little treasure box, and a mason jar full of blood onto Avery’s dresser, before she got down to the clothes.- Excerpt from Left in the Dust 16.2</ref> She owns and can make goblin weaponry.<ref>It looked like she was teaching the younger students to make or use goblin weapons.  A whole assortment was lying between her and them.- Excerpt from Fall Out 14.z</ref>

She can drive despite not being old enough.<ref>“She has driver’s insurance?  She can’t drive.”

“She can’t drive legally, yes, but she knows how and it’s best if you don’t let her, for everyone’s sake.”- Excerpt from Left in the Dust 16.2</ref>

Chronology

During the doll making class she and her sister used goblin magic to make there doll aggressive forcing her teacher to intervene.

During the lesson on human binding she went up against Avery and lost.<ref>- Cutting Class 6.7</ref>

Her and her sister America visit a goblin sage and get his support for going after Lucy, Avery and Verona. She attacked the trio by the bridge and only called it off when Cherrypop jumped out of her fork to scare Avery.<ref>- Vanishing Point 8.a</ref>

When America tried to attack the trio with a horde of goblins during their school trip Liberty helped get rid of the Warren holes.<ref>Fae aren’t good at blocking the holes or getting rid of them, so I helped for a few minutes.  I might have to stay.  America will be upset I helped.”- Excerpt from Vanishing Points 8.7</ref>

She was present at the Station Prominade Path, helping out with identifying magic items and playing with Cherrypop and Peckersnot.<ref>- [9.z Spoilers] Magic Item Identification</ref>

Avery contacted her asking for help with arresting Maricica. When Liberty asked Avery to show her something uniquely gross in order to talk to her Avery used her brother as an example.

During the raid against Maricica she tried to persuade the trio to be more aggressive<ref>“See, if we’d blitzed her right from the beginning, we wouldn’t be in this boat,” Liberty pointed out.- Excerpt from False Moves 12.1</ref> and after Finnea appealed the challenge she forced Liberty to attend along with the trio.<ref>You may free the goblin queen if you see fit.  Her involvement in the challenge is secondary.”

The Faerie looked them over.  “She can stay.”- Excerpt from False Moves 12.1</ref> During the resulting fight she stood along side the trio and helped them convince Finnea it wasn't worth continuing. When she left she took many of the smaller goblins that spawned in the fight with her.<ref>Then Liberty was off, saying her goodbye and giving a super-extra-big hug to ‘Uncle Toad’ before leading the goblins out of town, including the little ones who’d been spawned or dug up.- Excerpt from False Moves 12.2</ref>

After Musser took over the school she took it upon herself to teach the other students about goblins and improve human-goblin relationships.<ref>“Uncle Toadie,” Liberty said, smiling.  “Yeah.  I think he gets it.  Kind of.  He gets it more than most.  I want to give the kids something good from the goblins, give the goblins something good from the kids.”- Excerpt from Playing a Part 15.2</ref>
