Plot
Upon realizing Conquest's arrival, our protagonists freak out for a bit. Laird steps forward to act as the negotiator for the current predicament, while the other Behaims circle around to watch the exits. Despite Blake's best arguments, Laird convinces him that everything he has done so far has just made everything worse, especially for the friends he sacrificed for power. Rose tries to encourage Blake to keep going, and even offers him some information about options that won't work. Maggie suggests letting her use the Hyena however Blake refuses, hinting that he doesn't think she is who she says she is. Finishing off their list of options are June and Pauz.
The Behaims make their move, blasting enchanted music throughout the area. The Hyena is released and ordered to destroy the source of the music. Corvidae got a new coat. Conquest pulls out his BFG, shoots through Blake's cover, and somehow misses every shot. Quickly taking in his surroundings, Blake realizes that the music is slowing down everyone's perception of time. Duncan breaks free and tries to shoot them, but Evan manages to fix Blake's perception and push him out of the way. Blake slashes Duncan's wrist with June, and Rose follows it up by unleashing all of June's power. As the whole house fills with snow, Blake makes a break for the exit.
Outside, Blake convinces Owen Behaim to go help stop his Uncle's bleeding. The Hyena lay on the ground, bleeding out. Laird was waiting for Blake by his car, while Conquest finally catches up to them. Conquest summons two echoes from Blake's past to torment him. The first reminds Blake of his time homeless and the times he was nearly beaten to death. Blake tries to run away from his second echo, but gets caught by Laird. The second reminds Blake of a traumatic scene involving one man. Evan helps Blake by telling him he can just fast-forward to the end of the scene. The moment Blake recovers from the echo's effect, he grabs a piece of wood and stabs it into Laird's neck.
