Edward "Ed" Garrick is a city mage and finder.
Personality
Has a tendancy to downplay things.<ref name=":1" />
Relationships
Acquaintance of Alexander, once brought guns from him.<ref>Wye: I’ll talk to Richmond and Fraser about the guns for Ed’s frisky little Parasite God. He said he’d pay us double what the guns were worth if handled the purchasing and took that worry off his mind. Doesn’t want to break the perimeter or spare any hands for a shopping trip.
I did a reading on the finances. If I overbuy, show up with enough, he’ll pay for the excess, then let us buy it back. Free guns.
Depicted: Alexander leans in closer, his eyes taking up the majority of the mirror.
Wye: Alexander?
Alexander: It’s good. Go ahead with that. Do you have enough in your account?- Excerpt from [7.3 Spoilers] Borrowed eyes comic</ref> His fortunes suffered after Alex's death.<ref name=":1" />
Nicolette did errands for him whilst she worked for Alexander, he taught her a rirual to help her improve her sense of direction.<ref>Nicolette knew Ed. He was the one she’d done the errand for, where she had been taught the map ritual. It was the kind of ritual she liked, where she did it once and got a benefit thereafter. It did close some doors, though. To always know where she was, but to have a harder time navigating places that needed a little confusion.
Ed was a specialist in shamanism, specific to locations. Talking to the spirits of cities, getting some spirits to bring him or cargo from one place to another. It helped at times to know where he was going, which was why he stayed in close contact with Alex.- Excerpt from Stolen Away 2.z</ref>
Currently has a working relationship with Avery Kelly.
Abilities
Ed is a experianced City Mage, and Finder, his family also explores the Abyss.<ref name=":0">Avery wanted to walk the Paths, and Zed knew a city mage named Edward, who knew finders who walked the Paths, as well as delving into the Abyss.
In the dizzying series of trades and whatnot, the deal was that if Zed got the tape back, Avery could have more information on the Paths, including one trial-walk that proved they knew what they were talking about. - Excerpt from Leaving a Mark 4.1</ref>
Chronology
Was busy trying to deal with a God Parasite.<ref name="4.1e1" />
He gave Avery the details about the Zoom Town Path<ref name=":0" /> and sent his youngest son Jude to guide her through it.
Afterwards he invited Avery to help out with the Station Promenade Path.<ref name=":1">“This might be an oh yes, I don’t know. But it’s not easy. Remember Ed? Associated with the Finders family?”
“Yeah.”
“His family’s trying to find their feet after Alexander disappeared. They were pretty seriously into Alexander’s network, and they’re not in a great way with this whole situation. Anyway, they’re onto a new path, they found a way in, they want help.”
“Help as in…?”
“As in they’re figuring it out. Trying to work out the rules and troubleshoot some of the problems. If I’m translating the Ed-ese right, Ed was saying they would appreciate a fresh set of eyes.”
“Ed-ese?” Nicolette asked.
“He’s the kind of guy who could get his arms and legs hacked off and he’d say ‘that wasn’t great’, and he had a kid, hale and healthy, wife did terrific, and according to Ray Ed’s enthusiasm was expressed as ‘not so bad a day’.”
“Reminds me of my grandfather from when he could speak more,” Avery said.
“If that helps you speak Ed’s language then that’s great. From what I understand, this Path stuff is pretty hazardous, you’re engaging with a system you don’t understand. Looking at the wrong thing or touching the wrong object could make something happen or mean something and then the entire dynamic changes.”- Excerpt from Shaking Hands 9.3</ref>
