Shapeshifting

Shapeshifting is the ability to change the shape of an object. Practitioners, primarily with Hollow practices, and Others can change their bodies into an animal or other creatures.

There tend to be tells with various types of shapeshifting glamour particularly.<ref>“Got it,” Verona said.  “So some practices, you know, there’s gotta be a tell, right?”

“Yeah,” Avery replied.

“We ran into that with the Choir.  There has to be a solution.  Or it’s not fair,” Lucy said.

“It’s really common with glamour, by the way.  Like, if you seal it up too tight and there’s no obvious way for the truth to get out, it builds up pressure.  But for Snowdrop it’s her opossum self that’s building up pressure, and there’s a lot of that already.”

“Not true.  I’m a bad oposssum representative,” Snowdrop said.

Avery used a finger to put the letters down.  The glamour helped give the letters a font.

“Add something to the inside of the shirt.  Like it’s a shirt a guy can wear where they flip up the bottom half and the joke answer is on the inside.  It’s a vent valve for the truth, but your target isn’t going to pull up some little boy’s shirt, I hope.”

“Gotcha,” Avery said.  Boy-Snowdrop folded up the shirt, exposing slightly protruding belly.  Avery wrote a speech bubble with the answer inside.  “Okay.  I’m going to add a clown.  So this isn’t something that they’ll get unless they read the joke and think about it, huh?” - Excerpt from Playing a Part 15.2</ref> Also they can use alone without any other requirements or power source as it can bring whatever image they have into reality. However, this form of shapeshifting can lead to either it breaking if too fragile or becoming permanent if they sink into the glamour too deep.

For a practitioner options include using Shamanic practice: They take the still-warm blood of an animal and douse themselves in it while naked, allowing them to feel the power while keeping themselves sane. Put the power into the parts of it you want to keep, gorge the spirit, and draw it spirit into you. This method requires an external power source.

The risks of this is that failing to exert enough will and focus will cause the power inherent in the blood to bleed over into other parts of and cause bad things to happen. They might physically change, might experience other side effects, or their mind might slip away until it fades. Opposite is that if you don’t exert enough power, you’ll get far less effect for what you have spent, but with practice you learn how much to put in, and where your attention needs to go.

For Others they either use native abilities or those that have become Familiars get a different form as part of the ritual.

Judges can use their powers to appear however they want.
