Subordination 6.7 is the seventh chapter of Subordination.
Plot[edit]
Blake and Rose continue their conversation from the previous chapter. She explains how helpless she feels, and how after talking with Evan, she would like a minion of her own. Her first choice is Mary Frances Troxler, a wraith or boggart from before 0 A.D. with a mirror theme. She's a ferocious lady killer that could potentially provide answers for Rose's predicament. Unfortunately this version of "Bloody Mary" is still evolving, so comes with a chance of coming after Rose in the mirror world.
The second choice is Tallowman, a candle maker turned Revenant specialized in using fatty wax to return from death. Unfortunately wax is weak to heat and two of Conquest's champions are specialized in fire. The third choice is James Corvidae, a clever Bogeyman with a bird theme. He takes that which one most loves, forges a new connection, and gives it to the most inconvenient person. Far too scary to summon while also being too weak to use, Blake pretty much rejects this one.
Evan flies in to introduce their just arrived champion, Maggie Holt. They touch base on what Blake and his cabal have been up to before returning back to discussing which Other to summon. As the resident expert in the nasty, Maggie recommends they summon Mary, Tallowman, and Midge the sub-human. Blake reluctantly okays the idea. As Rose and Maggie go get ready for the rituals, Blake brings Evan, Tiff, and the Hyena outside. Blake contemplates about the death and destruction The Eye and, by extension of starting the contest, Blake has caused and how innocents are interpreting it. Evan and Tiff ask why Blake isn't giving Maggie the Goblin blade, to which Blake responds that he doesn't trust her right now.
A little while later, Fell returns to drive them to their new base when they discover Fell's car surrounded by the Sisters' of the Torch Terracotta Soldiers. The dolls and mannequins were divided into five groups by the rune they wore. The fire ones tracked their body heat. The air ones tracked their breaths. The earth ones tracked their footsteps. The metal ones are unknown. With Rose finally summoning Midge, the water ones make a mad dash for them.
