Lucy Rose, known online as SereneNocturne or simply Nocturne, is an American artist and the illustrator of the header images featured in Pale.<ref>Credited in the About Page.</ref>

Illustrations[edit]

Nocturne was commissioned to provide the headers used in the web serial Pale. There are three primary images, one for each of the Kennet Trio (Avery, Lucy, and Verona), and secondary versions used for Interludes which differ in that the girls themselves do not appear in the images. Other slight variants have also been used, such as the banner for One After Another 10.a which is covered in ink stains, representing the ink and acid Alexander Belanger used to destroy a connection of Lucy's, which turned out to be the one between her and John Stiles.<ref>Picking up the heavy pen again, he touched it to the photograph.

Black ink bled into the photograph, taking on three dimensions in the scene.

“Abandonment,” Alexander said.  “A connection severed.”

The ink took on a sharp smell, then began to eat through the photograph.  He tossed it aside before it could burn his fingers.

Done.

“Talk to me,” Musette said, sitting shoulder to shoulder with Lucy.

“I was thinking about him being my familiar.”

“Yeah.”

John remained standing where he was.  He wasn’t sure he was supposed to hear this, but…

“…Not so much anymore.”

The air filled momentarily with the smell of acid and ink. - Excerpt from Gone Ahead 7.x</ref>

Other illustrations[edit]

Nocturne has also been known to produce fan art for Pact, Pale, and other works by Wildbow.
