'''{{PAGENAME}}''' is the first chapter of [[Summer Break (arc)|Summer Break]]. In it [[Verona]] leads the group to the furs, Zed sets things up and explains the ground rules, Verona performs the first part of the [[Alcazar]] ritual.

==Plot==
As they walk to the [[The House on Half Street|House of Half Street]] [[Jessica Casabien|Jessica]] gives them advice on how to improve the shrines and what is wrong with them.

[[Zed Sadler|Zed]] uses technomancy to open a portal to outside the house on half street and then Jessica and Zed proceed to give them a quick lesson on [[Realm]]s practice.

They enter the house and begin setting up. They agree to only spend eleven minutes each in their and Jessica says she’ll dive in if they get into trouble. They discuss what questions they’re going to ask.

They put on their hat, cloak and masks and begin the ritual, a door appears and [[Verona]] asks to be shown the beginning, when the Carmine took the throne.

She becomes the [[Carmine Beast|Beast that would be Carmine]], seeing what it saw, she keeps flitting between scenes of Verona and scenes of the Carmine beast. She watches the rise of civilizations as building are constructed and the Beast tries to stop it and fails, it being hemmed in by humans, being told it’s a candidate for the throne and eating the previous judge.

Interspersed with this are scenes from [[Verona Hayward|Verona’s]] childhood, her parents splitting up, her doing badly at school, her being told she has to go to university so she can get a job, getting an apartment.

The ritual uses parts of her own life to show her how the [[Carmine Beast]] felt and why it took the role. That she felt as if there's no place in the world for her and that she was all alone in the world.

We see the beast take the throne as arranged by killing the previous Carmine and then we see it fighting against other challengers, [[Goblin]]s and [[Bogeyman|Bogeymen]] and killing them all.

Afterwards when she leaves the ritual she says that she’s not that enthusiastic about becoming other, she also says [[Charles Abrams|Charles]] was lying and that she didn’t see anyone like them attempt to get the throne.
