[[Lucy]]'s paternal grandparents were Randy and Barbie Kingston. They had six children: five foster children (Peter, Renee, Martie, Heather, and Vince), and one bio child (Lucy's father, Roy).<ref name="lucy-tree">Lucy's family tree, in [[Keeping Tabs, Kennet]]</ref> Although their foster children formed a family of 'siblings', only Martie and Renee formalized the relationship and were adopted.<ref>Her dad had been the only child born to Lucy’s grandmother and grandfather, and the rest of his ‘siblings’ were the long-term foster children that they then brought in.  Uncle Martie and Aunt Renee had been the only ones to be formally adopted, a kind of informal thing that had happened when they were twenty.  Aunt Heather hadn’t accepted the formal adoption. - [[Stolen Away 2.4]]</ref>

Roy Kingston married [[Jasmine Ellingson|Jasmine Ellis]].<ref name="lucy-tree" /> They had two children, [[Booker]] and [[Lucy]].

Lucy's father Roy died when she was young. After this, Jasmine was in a relationship with [[Paul]] for five years, during which time they got engaged and purchased a house. However, Paul's family were racist and didn't like that he was dating a black woman, and he chose to take his family's side and abandoned Jasmine and her family.
