==Plot==
The chapter opens with the couple exploring historic burg, still lit by fire and gas. They've flown in from the new world and are still adjusting to the time difference.

They walk through the town having an impromptu picnic and discussing things like past relationships and life in general. Dee is somewhat hurt to find out that they're in the town that ben's former fiancée came from and for that fiancée breaking off on the engagement with him. She admits after some prodding it's partially from a feel that she's in competition with her to a point. Throughout the discussion, she takes the time to turn some skewers of meat knuckle dusters, almost like a reflex.

They pass an old suit that Ben notes could be used in shamanism. 

They pass several town residents as they walk including a girl with an [[Evil Eye]] and an old woman who uses a stone that fascinates DeeDee. After she recovers from it she notices that they're about to have a troublesome guest, something even ben senses. She takes back her knuckleduster and starts improving it with various horrible things she has in reserve.

They're met by Gernot, a scion of the Warzenberg clan who Ben happily greets. Deedee does not like the man, and not because he's hideously deformed. She is herself a goblin and deals with a lot of ugly goblins. It's because of the recent blood and death he reeks of. Ben accepts Gernot's invitation to the family castle.

There the couple meets regular humans, Ben takes precautionary measures to make sure Dee isn't bothered. The humans start talking amongst each other while Dee notes that the "pigs" the clan is planning to eat and slaughter

The chapter closes with Dee readying for a fight.
