Toadswallow gives a lecture in the deep woods outside of the [[Blue Heron Institute]]. Snowdrop fills Avery in on one of the local goblins, in her own circuitous way. 

Toadswallow tries to arrange some vittles but with Gashwad being uncooperative he tries to give out gremlin candy and 'wall treats', things collected from the forgotten corners of vending machines and the world. Liberty Tedd takes it, Verona and the Kierstaads set up the meeting place as John and Tashlit stand guard.

With some banter between Liberty and TS taking up time Avery checks in on the other 12 practitioner children in the group. Everyone seems on edge in one way or another. Avery tries to outline her thinking with a sports metaphor, about how the best players think about their sprt even when they're not playing it, and gets chided for the discussion by Verona who gets snowdrop playfully sicced on her.

Lucy agrees with the metaphor and gets them back on task, grumbaing about food. TS uses this to launch into a lecture, getting around to [[Chandling]]s nature, larger history, power and sociological dynamics. Long story short Verona has a lot of trouble coming for her. Gashwad gives his own pieces of advice.

The Oni practioners segwat them into a discussion about [[Labels]] and how these apply to the brownies.

The students share the specifics of their various magical abilities. 

TS shares his views on the prevalence of the [[Aware]]


Bristow, Mausser and Havens shows up, with the Brownies in tow.

Mausser counters johns main abilities as a soldier-spirit through a bullet catching glove. 
 
Laila understandably panics and flees, she slips and slides and is flung out onto the rocks near Tashlit. But the eye girl can do nothing for Laila, she is already dead.

Avery frees Lucy on her way to the Ruins portal.

Sometime Avery and Snowdrop meets Jessica and Zed in the Ruins. They are surprised and shocked to hear about developments.
